Highlights from the 2008 Spring Conference:
Excerpted from the May 2008 Conference:
Frosty Troy is the nation most ardent supporter of public education. We are just lucky to have him in Oklahoma and committed to Oklahoma. He keynoted our conference on Thursday morning to a crowd as large as I can remember for our group. His comments we back up by research and completely on target. Our Wednesday workshop for encumbrance clerks and treasurers was attended by 167 from their ranks and other job descriptions as well. Kathy Leviant, American Fidelity Assurance Co., delivered an information filled general session on 403(b). The name is short but the opportunities to follow the new rules have lots of twists and turns. I hope that you took notes and are ready for action. She gave her number and email to attendees. The room was filled to see Oklahoma ASBO honor two special ladies, Ms. Sue Callahan from the Teacher Retirement System Office and Ms. Nancy McKay, CFO, Jenks Schools, the 2008 School Business Official of the Year.

Attention: Encumbrance Clerks and Treasurers
April 16, 2008
Meridian Convention Center - Oklahoma City
The 2005 session of the Legislature passed a bill that requires all Encumbrance
Clerks and School Treasurers obtain 12 hours in specified areas to hold their jobs and to also obtain 12 additional hours in each three year period to keep their job. Wednesday, April 16th is the day that Oklahoma ASBO has scheduled for you to meet those requirements.
Any of our members or guests may enroll for the PreConference and find many topics of value as they perform their job. We do not have conference space available to offer these as two separate workshops so the combination will serve the dual purpose.
Limited to the first 150 registrants

Change IS a Journey
You spoke...we listened. Several changes have been implemented as a result of your evaluations last conference. We've incorporated time for networking by eliminating the luncheon speaker. We also brought the Round Table discussions back. For more information, see Page 4 of the 2008 February issue of OkASBO News. Preregistration is now closed but we will accept late registrations at the door.
