IMPORTANT 2020 OKASBO FALL CONFERENCE UPDATE!
Dear OKASBO Members,
Your health and safety are always our priority. Following state and national governmental agencies' directives related to these priorities will always be our course of action.
As such, OKASBO is canceling the 2020 Fall Conference scheduled for November 11th and 12th. While we are disappointed that we won't be meeting together to learn, collaborate, and connect, we realize these are unprecedented times calling for critical action.
We know how important this conference and training is for everyone. For these reasons, the OKASBO Board, Kim, and I are considering a Virtual Fall Conference. We would love to get everyone together, even if it is remotely. Please drop us a note at email@example.com if you would be interested in attending the Virtual Fall Conference
We will work with the Embassy Suites to cancel all room reservations made under the OKASBO block. Registrants do not need to call the Embassy Suites to cancel room reservations. If you made reservations at a different hotel, you would need to cancel your reservation.
If you have already paid your 2020 Fall Conference registration fee, I will contact you about these fees later this week or early next week.
We know this is a disruptive and challenging time. Thank you for all you are doing to keep students and staff safe.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCMENT #1
The Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Association of School Business Officials would like to announce the selection of Kimberly Bauer as its new Professional Development Coordinator.
Ms. Bauer comes to us having served as the Director of Purchasing at an Oklahoma public school. Kim understands firsthand the challenges facing school leaders. She has a passion for professional development.
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT #2
The OKASBO Board of Directors would also like to announce the creation of the OKASBO Institute of School Business and Finance (OISBF). The Institute will begin operations September 1st. Ms. Bauer will oversee the OISBF.
The OKASBO Institute of School Business and Finance will be offering three levels of certification workshops. Levels 1, 2, and 3 will build on each other with a set curriculum for each level. Instruction and work will not be limited to just during the workshop. Participants will receive monthly assignments to complete. The tasks will compliment sessions either covered in the last session or to be included in the upcoming session.
Level participants will be assigned a mentor to assist them with their journey. Each of the three levels will meet at the same time, in the same location, but in different rooms. We are holding them at the same time and place to encourage networking between the participants of each level.
OKASBO will be adjusting its certification program. Our ultimate plan is for our participants to be eligible to take the ASBO International SFO Certification exam once they have completed Levels 1, 2, and 3 if they would like to do so.
OKASBO and the Institute know business officials have many different titles and a wide variety of duties. We also know many of you wear multiple hats, even if you only have one title. With that, The OISBF will also be offering classes for treasurers, encumbrance clerks, activity fund custodians, payroll & HR professionals, and other options. Preparations for these offers are underway now..
