Governance

The OkASBO Board of Directors, with recommendations from the Professional and Membership Development Committee, shall adopt policies, rules, and regulations governing the administration of the certification program and make available to the OkASBO membership.
Eligibility

Oklahoma ASBO members who believe they meet the standards and requirements for certification as outlined below may submit an application packet and a $75.00 fee for Certified School Business Specialist (CSBS), Certified School Business Official (CSBO), or Certified School Business Administrator (CSBA). Such certification shall be for three (3) years beginning on July 1 of the application year.

Appeal Process

In the event an application is not approved, the applicant will be notified in writing. The applicant shall have the right to appeal the decision. Such notice must be in writing and received by the Executive Director within thirty (30) days from the date of the original notification. The Executive Director shall forward all relevant data to the Professional and Membership Development Committee who will make recommendations to the Board of Directors. The Board will make the final decision in writing to the applicant and further appeal will not be permitted. The entire appeal process must be completed within 120 days of the original denial notice.

Suspension

School business personnel who do not acquire sufficient maintenance points to be recertified on the renewal date will be notified in writing of suspension from using the CSBS, CSBO or CSBA designation and will no longer be listed as such until they submit to the certification process and successfully meet the criteria for certification.

Revocation of Certificate

A registered OkASBO Certificate may be revoked by the recommendation of the OkASBO Professional and Membership Development Committee and/or OkASBO Board of Directors. Revocations may arise from falsification or misrepresentation of information relied upon to grant the certificate or conviction of a crime relevant to the character or competency of a registrant to practice his or her profession.

An individual whose registration is to be revoked will be notified in writing of the reason for such revocation at least forty-five (45) days before the planned date of Board action. The registrant shall have the right to appeal the decision to revoke the registration by written notification to the Executive Director of the intent to appeal. Such notice shall be received within thirty (30) days of the date of the planned Board meeting. Documentation supporting the appeal must be received at least ten (10) days before the day of the planned Board meeting. The Board shall review the information presented and may interview the registrant, if necessary. The Board shall have the final authority.
