The board of education is hereby empowered to require the treasurer to satisfactorily complete an investment education program approved by the State Board of Education and the State Board of Career and Technology Education. Such program shall be designed to allow treasurers to make informed decisions regarding the safety, return, liquidity, costs and benefits of various investment options allowed under this section. (Title 70, Section 5-115)

One of the constant challenges of public school administration is staying current on school finance and the changes in education law affecting it. Administrators sometimes feel that they need a financial expert on speed dial.
To address this challenge, CCOSA, OKASBO and VFC have developed a program to assist school districts with budgeting, financial planning, funding projections, OCAS coding and fund balance projecting.
