6.3.16 PRESS RELEASE
The Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Association of School Business Officials (OKASBO) has accepted the resignation of the OKASBO Executive Director Dawn Pearce. Mrs. Pearce announced her resignation this week to pursue new opportunities as an instructor at the University of Central Oklahoma.
“It has been a great honor to serve this past year as the executive director,” Pearce said. “This was a very difficult decision for me, but I am blessed to have been extended an offer to join the Advanced Professional and Special Services Department faculty as an instructor in their educational leadership program. It has been a lifelong dream of mine to return to my teaching roots and foster the next generation of educators and leaders. This opportunity came about much earlier than I had expected and I’m so excited about what is yet to come.”
Mrs. Pearce will remain on staff for a duration of time to help create the most appropriate transition, working closely with board members and the new executive director candidate. The goal of this succession plan will be to continue to provide the OKASBO network with services and supports with no interruption or delay.
“Dawn has provided OKASBO with some new and innovative approaches this past year,” said President Nancy Hughes. “She has worked to place the organization online by promoting membership and participation through our virtual newsletters (eNewBlasts) and social media profiles, like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. These changes give us a good foundation for collaboration and networking in the coming future.”
The OKASBO Board of Directors will be guiding the search process for a replacement and have posted the job on the OKASBO website for interested parties to apply. The executive director job description and information regarding the application process can be found at www.okasbo.org under the Membership Resources link, Employment Opportunities.
